Statute Reference
Statutes of limitations by state, cited to the official text.
Statute Reference is a free reference to statutes of limitations: the state laws that limit how long a person has to file a lawsuit after a claim arises. Each figure is tied to the official statutory text, with a link to the source and the date it was last checked against that text.
Where a rule has not been checked against an official source, the tables say “Not yet verified” instead of showing a number.
Statute Reference is not a law firm. It explains general rules; it does not evaluate any particular debt or claim, and it does not say whether a claim is timely. For advice about a specific situation, consult an attorney licensed in the relevant state.
