Statute of Limitations Calculator

Choose a state, a type of agreement, and a start date. The calculator shows the general limitations period that the state's statutes set for that type of agreement, the date that period would end if counted from the start date, and the statute the period comes from, with a link to the official text. Some states also set special periods for certain consumer debts; where they exist, they are listed with the result.

The calculator does not take into account any facts about a particular debt, such as when the period actually began, later payments or agreements, or which state's law applies, and it does not determine whether any claim is still timely.

The date the period is counted from. States differ on what starts the period.

For the full 50-state table and an explanation of how these periods work, see Statute of Limitations on Credit Card Debt by State.
